Blue Star Flag

Let me start by saying that I've totally been slacking on blogging about what's going on in my life. Bad SpecialK, bad! I hope you don't mind me posting about things that aren't exactly current.

OK, with that out of the way, I and another milspouse, were recently invited to a dinner hosted by the local American Legion Post. We were each presented with a blue star flag to hang in our windows at home. Display of the Service Star Banner first came about during World War I. During WWI and WWII most flags were hand made by mothers across the nation. Each blue star on the flag represents a service member in active duty. When a family member is killed, the blue star is replaced with a gold one representing sacrifice. I am displaying the flag at home with great pride of my hubby's service to his country.

It was wonderful to be surrounded by this group of people who wanted to do something for the spouse of a deployed Soldier. The food was quite excellent, too! And to my new friend, C, whose hubby is also deployed, you've I'm so glad to meet another Army Wife! Thank you to those who made this dinner happen!
